The Last Suduction (Opening)

Click here for The Last Suduction (opening). (I analyed up to 4:18)
I have been analysing the opening of this movie for our film as it is of the same type of genre of our film. In The opening you can see the two characters that the story will focus around. You can see the woman (Name not yet know) in her place of work, she seems to be a manager of some sort of telemarketing company. She acts around the workers as a mean and controlling boss, this shows how her character truely to the audiance as alot can be said about her in the first two minutes. Her choice of words are pretty harsh, towards her team. It shows that she will only reward people for truely excellent work, This is shown when she offers $100 to the next person who makes a triple sale, but when one person makes a triple sale she exclaims that it had to be within a fifty second time period. But eventually her method pays off when an employe makes a triple sale she does give him the $100, however she does tempt him with some valuable coins that she mentions could be worth $1000, the man refuses the coins and takes the $100. This can present the fact that she could be a con artist trying to trick people out of money, and that she could be quite skilled at it (which is portrayed later in the film).
The opening scene also focuses on a male character also, A perscription drug dealer (whos name is also not known yet) The possesion of perscribtion cannabis suggests either one of two things, That he either stole them or he himself is a doctor however it is not known yet how he obtained them, however it is know that he is selling them for money on the black market, When the two purchasers play a prank on the seller they do not let him have the money staright away instead they hold a gun to his head as he has a strong over whealming feeling of assured death. In the time he believes hes going to die he only blames himself and not the two guys who are going to shoot him. The only request he has (instead of pleaing for his life) is for the to get it over and done with quickly, This can show that this character has no real feeling that his life is worth anything. The fact that all he wants is for them to be getting it over and done with, (If that was me i would be pleaing for my life or even curled up in a ball crying for them to not, but thats just me) instead he is calm and ready, almost like he pre-planned this.
The opening scene also sets the scene, (urban new york to anyone that didnt know) Its only one extended shot which starts with a taxi beaping its horn on a not so bust street and then pans up to reveal the whole of manhatten (Concrete jungle)

The Aim Of A Thriller

The aim of any type of thriller is to try and keep the audience on the edge of their seats throughout the movie. In any thriller or even sub-genre thriller movie such as a spy thriller or a horror thriller has the aim to keep a viewer on the edge of the seat using either a compelling storyline in such movies as orphan or seven psychopaths but the fact they kept viewers on the edge of their seats is open to interpretation. Not everyone is the same in the scene that different people like different things and that makes it hard for people to create a movie that is liked by everyone. But there are some movie that become a cult classic such as dirty harry starring Clint Eastwood.
